Ten Million Dollar Settlement Granted Final Approval
July 21, 2008
On July 21, 2008, Judge Margaret Morrow granted final approval to a class action settlement in Fernandez v. Victoria’s Secret Stores, Inc. USDC Case No: 06-4149. The Court had previously appointed John N. Quisenberry and Robert J. Drexler, Jr. of The Quisenberry Law Firm as Class Co-Counsel.
The settlement class is composed of applicants for an hourly sales position (sales associate, sales support associate and cashiers) at a Victoria’s Secret lingerie store between March 29, 2002 and August 7, 2007 in California who received no pay for a job preview, during which the applicant performed work for VSS.
On May 15, 2008, Notice of Settlement and a Claim Form was mailed to more than 77,000 potential class members. On that same day, Notice was published in major California newspapers and on http://www.facebook.com/ to alert other class members of the proposed settlement.
